Seeks unperformed, unpublished works for young concert band (in the grade 1 to grade 4 range) with the traditional concert band instrumentation. Works should show skill at writing for young bands and should not exceed 10 minutes. Publication and premiere performance.

Details: The first annual Pathways Composition Competition is looking for works for young concert band (in the grade 1 to grade 4 range) with the traditional concert band instrumentation. Works should show skill at writing for young bands (i.e. Appropriate ranges, part doubling, etc.) and should not exceed 10 minutes. Longer works will, however, be reviewed.

Sent materials should include three full scores, a full set of parts, and, if available, a recording of the work (MIDI realizations are acceptable). Entries do not have to be anonymous. The winner will receive publication by Imagine Music Publishing in the new "Pathways" Band Series, a premiere performance of the piece (possible use as a contest piece and, if so, the piece will be submitted for included on the Kansas state required music list), and a possible stipend to attend the premiere performance.
