Symposium 34 for New Band Music
The College Band Directors National Association Virginia Chapter announces Symposium 34 for New Band Music with the 2009 Virginia Intercollegiate Band to be held at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia on February 13-14, 2009. Travel awards of $500 will be presented to two composers selected to participate, and the final session will be recorded.
Composers of any age or nationality may submit works for full symphonic band instrumentation. If the work includes a soloist or electronics the composer is responsible for providing those elements as well as a full set of parts. The preference is for (although not restricted to) unpublished works which will be selected by a committee of VCBDNA directors and university composers. Selected composers must attend Symposium 34 and must conduct their works in open reading rehearsals.
